President’s letter – December 2013

Dear Members,

I have presided over my first Board Meeting and would like to inform members of what is happening as the new Board settles in. Under the By Laws of Maramarua Golf Club, the Board members are responsible to form sub committees. The most well known committees are the Course and Match committees but we also need a Social and Fundraising committee and a Building Committee. If there is an area that interests you and you would like to contribute to the running of our Club please talk to me, Claire or any Board member.

Last season there was a fundraiser for the Greens roller and the Club would like to thank all those who contributed- not all people were identified but we thank you all for your generosity. You can see Rodney using this machine regularly and no doubt experience the difference in the greens .Also to everyone involved in the House and Garden Day- what a great effort with people donating their time and support for Maramarua Golf Club.

Our Board meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:30 and we welcome members as casuals or as support people who attend regularly and contribute ideas and knowledge to assist the Board.
We are looking at establishing a 9 Hole Mens Membership to complement the Womens 9 Hole category and we will run an Open Mixed Tournament next season for 9 Hole members. The Club Programme is almost finalised with our Opening Day set down for Saturday 1st February. Watch for coming events on the website. Summer Cup competitions for Men and Women are in progress from this weekend.
Mens and Womens Pennants start early in the season so a bit of practice over summer won’t go astray! Maramarua will also be hosting 4 Pennant matches during the season.

Thank you all for your support at the AGM and as a Board we will try to continue to meet the needs of our members while looking after the course that is proudly Maramarua.

Have a Happy Christmas and we will all be back in the New Year.

Good golfing

Sue Brice
