Weekly Update

Preparations are underway for tournaments and events for later in the year, keep and eye out and gather some mates to make these events a winner for your club. The 54 Hole posters are out! Book in Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th November for this great event, earlybird entry of $75 (inc 2’s & lunch) if paid by 3rd October.

A reminder for volunteers to help with lifting and transporting turf from the old Manukau Golf Club between Fri 2nd Sept and Fri 9th Sept. This is a fantastic opportunity for us and your volunteer help will be most appreciated to make this task manageable. Contact the office, Graham Derrick or another Board member to add your name.

Yup, still wet and windy out. Your practice net is now fixed and secured back in by the practice green, thank you Wednesday players!

If you are out and about, or just feel like a walk around your neighborhood – we have a variety of Maramarua advertising material that you can help the club by picking up and distributing around your local area, workplace, social or sports club.

A reminder that if you bring guests they pay a reduced green fee of $20 for 18 holes (3 guests max)

As a Maramarua member you also now receive a reduced rate at local clubs of $20 a round at Onewhero, Clarks Beach, Waiuku and Waikare.

Weekly Update 04/07/16

The Bone of Contention is being played at Hauraki on Sunday 10th July with a start time of 10am – be there to get the Bone for Maramarua!!

Fireworks for 4th July started the annual Countdown Tournament at Maramarua. Forty-six men and thirty-six ladies started a foggy day with complimentary coffee and scones. Six holes later the sky was clear producing some good rounds in good conditions. Best of the ladies were Colleen Smith (net 66), Shirley Buckley, Judy Shanley and Sandra Stevens. The men were led by Russell Ford (net 67), Jim Peacock, Liam Peeters and Tim Detmar. Many thanks to Countdown for their sponsorship

Hitting from the tee you are unable to see the green, as there is an elevated fairway which gives way to a down slope for the third shot. The green is slightly elevated from the fairway and slopes to the front.

Elevated tee to a relitvely flat landing area, although there is a slight slope from right to left, a hazard to the left of the trees and a small hill exists on the right. The green is again slightly elevated and slopes from back to front and right to left.

Elevated tee to a relatively flat green, bunkers surround the left as well as an out of bounds 20 metres from the left hand side of the bunker. Trees line the right hand side till the green.

 A Level tee that finds a very open fairway, on the extreme right hand side it slopes left to right a steep decline from the 135 metre marker makes the green blind. The green being elevated and sloping right to left and front to back.

A level tee greets you here, a slightly elevated fairway with a very slight right to left bend. A small lake covers the front of the green and trees line the left hand side of the fairway and a hazard lines the right. However the fairway is very open allowing a vast range of shots to be played to the two tiered green.

A slightly elevated tee awaits you on Hole nine, out of bounds lines the entire right hand side of this fairway, with water hazards and out of bounds lining the left hand side. Right front of the green and the back is protected by bunkers.

Visitor Information

Visitors are welcome at our course whether you are a single player or a group of 100.

Please phone or email the office to check tee times – teeoff@maramarua.co.nz or phone +64 09 232 5702. Weekend bookings are essential if you want an early tee time but during the week there is no problem getting on the course.

Our clubhouse catering and bar is open on Saturday and Sunday but only on a Tuesday during the week. The shop is open 9 – 3 for snacks, drinks and golfing accessories. There are serveral eateries nearby if you do wish to play on a day when the clubhouse is not open. We can cater for group bookings and can help you to make a good day out for your group, just ask for options available.
